A Hereford firm, since 1994

We’re not a national contractor with a Hereford postcode on the website. Bolts has been fitting out commercial buildings in this city for over thirty years, and if you work in an office, a school or a shop here, there’s a decent chance you’ve already walked on one of our floors.

That matters more than it sounds. It means we know which buildings have damp slabs and which estates were built when. It means we can be on site the same week rather than the same month. And it means that if something needs sorting a year later, we’re ten minutes away rather than three counties.

Flooring used to be the one trade we subcontracted. Bringing it in-house means you now get the same fitters, the same programme and the same single point of contact for the floor as for everything else.

What we install

Carpet tiles. The default office floor, and for good reason. Tiles can be lifted and replaced individually, so a spill or a worn patch by a chair doesn’t mean recarpeting a room. We fit monolithic, quarter-turn, brick bond and ashlar, and we’ll manage your attic stock so there are always matching spares.

Safety flooring. Slip-resistant sheet vinyl for kitchens, wet rooms, plant rooms and wash-down areas. Hot-welded seams and coved skirtings so there’s no joint for water to get into.

Vinyl flooring. Hard-wearing sheet vinyl for corridors, stores and back-of-house, where cleaning and durability matter more than looks.

LVT. Luxury vinyl tile in wood and stone effects for receptions, retail and hospitality, in commercial wear grades that stand up to real footfall rather than domestic-spec product that doesn’t.

Toilet and washroom flooring. Fully welded, coved and sealed, capped at the wall, so water has nowhere to go.

Whiterock and Bioclad. Hygienic PVC wall cladding, usually specified alongside a safety floor in commercial kitchens and clinical rooms. Wipe-clean, impact-resistant and far easier to keep than tiled walls.

Kitchen flooring. Commercial catering floors built for hot oil, spilled water, heavy trolleys and a nightly deep clean.

Floor repairs and maintenance. Patch repairs, seam re-welds, deep cleaning, encapsulation and tile replacement. Often the cheapest way to get another few years out of a floor that isn’t actually finished.

Barrier matting. Entrance matting systems that catch dirt and water at the door. The cheapest flooring in the building, and the one that protects everything else.

Where we work in Hereford

Rotherwas and Skylon Park. Rotherwas is the county’s largest employment area, home to over 200 companies and more than 3,500 people, and the Hereford Enterprise Zone at Skylon Park sits on the back of it. Between the Shell Store, the Cyber Quarter and the NMITE campus there’s a steady flow of new and refitted space. If your site needs vetted or escorted access, tell us at the survey and we’ll plan the programme around it.

Three Elms, Beech Business Park and Widemarsh. Trade counters, workshops and warehouse offices. Older units on these estates have usually been through several tenants and several floors, which means old adhesive and patched screed underneath. We allow for it properly rather than discovering it on day one.

The city centre. High Town, Widemarsh Street, Eign Gate, Commercial Road and the Old Market. Shop and café floors fitted overnight or on a Sunday so you trade as normal, with deliveries and waste removal planned around pedestrianised access.

Out to Moreton-on-Lugg and Credenhill. The estates on the city fringe are part of the same patch.

Sectors

Offices. Carpet tiles and LVT, phased floor by floor so desks move once.

Industrial and warehouse. Welfare areas, warehouse offices, trade counters and mezzanine floors.

Schools and colleges. Booked around half terms and the summer break. Our fitters are DBS-checked and work to a job-specific RAMS.

Healthcare. GP surgeries, dental practices, clinics and vets. Welded safety vinyl, coved and capped, with hygienic wall cladding where the specification calls for it.

Retail and hospitality. Shop fits, cafés, pubs and hotels, worked outside trading hours.

Sports and leisure. Changing rooms, studios, clubhouses and halls.

Domestic. We’re a commercial contractor first, but we do take on domestic work where commercial-grade preparation is what the job actually needs.

We work around you

Most of our work is in buildings that stay open. That’s the normal case, not the exception, and it shapes how we plan a job.

We phase the work by zone or by floor, move and reset furniture, and fit evenings, weekends or holidays where that’s the sensible answer. Fitters are CSCS-carded and DBS-checked where the site needs it. Every shift ends with the area cleaned down: no offcuts in the corridor, no dust sheets across a fire exit.

The preparation is the job

Most commercial floors that fail early don’t fail because of the product. They fail because of what was underneath.

We moisture test before we quote. If the slab needs a DPM, latex screed or ply overlay, that goes on the quotation as its own line with its own price. You’ll know what the preparation costs before you commit, rather than getting a phone call about it halfway through the week.

How it works

1. We come and look. Free, no obligation, and we measure on site rather than off a plan.
2. You get a fixed price. Itemised, with preparation, uplift and waste removal shown separately.
3. We agree a date and stick to it. Evenings, weekends and holidays where that suits you better.

Common questions

How much does commercial flooring cost?
It depends on the product and the state of the subfloor, but as a guide: carpet tiles supplied and fitted from around , safety flooring from around , LVT from around . Preparation, uplift and out-of-hours working are priced separately and shown on the quote.

How long will it take?
Once the subfloor is ready, a two-fitter team can really crack through a job. A standard open-plan office floor is usually a few day (or a weekend) job. Welded safety flooring is slower because of the welding and coving.

Can you work while we’re open?
Yes, and most of the time we do.

Do you supply the flooring as well as fit it?
Yes. We’re happy to fit a specified product, and equally happy to advise on alternatives if the budget or the lead time is tight.

Can you match flooring we already have?
We’ll try. Send a photo of the backing stamp or a spare tile and we’ll identify the range. If it’s discontinued we’ll find the nearest current equivalent and suggest where to use it.

Do you do small jobs?
Yes. Repairs, patches and single-room floors are all normal work for us.
